We I am sure like many of you it’s been a while since you have been out on the beaches or in the boat fishing due to the weather we have been having.
Tommy and I decided we were going to go fishing over the weekend we were looking at Sunday, but Monday looked the better day, light winds and no rain, so Monday it was to be.
We collected the boat from the yard and headed up to Island Magee to launch out of Ballylumford, weather was just as forecast bright skies and little wind and with high water at around 11.30am it was looking good.
We headed out to the normal mark and tied of, an hour before high and about 30mins after slack water we got before we were pushed of, but during this time we had some good sport with good Bull Huss and the usual doggies, I am going to call Tommy, Tommy Huss from now on, the first 4 fish he had were all Huss and some nice ones at that, he had a decent one of around the 6lb mark. All mine were doggies until the last few retrieves were I had a small Huss then I had a nice one around the 8lb+, lovely fish and very strong when you get them in the boat.
The tide was ripping through by now so we had to move as we could not even hold 2lb weights on the bottom. We headed over to the Maidens but still could not hold water; not even drifting was any good as we were racing through at around 6-7knots.
We decided to call it a day and head back in.
