Hi All,
As the dark days of winter draw in , Ron and I decided on a trip to Red Bay having first checked the wind report on www.xcweather.co.uk which I have found to be pretty reliable
We set off in darkness on Monday 26th October and arrived at the slipway at 8AM. It was quite warm and conditions about perfect with a slight offshore breeze. We went directly to our first GPS mark and were immediately into very large whiting up to 3lbs.
I usually fish with fresh rag, peeler crabs, squid ,mussels and rag ,while Ron uses only Hokkis baited with a sliver of mackerel. It didn't matter to the fish as we both connected every cast . We also had some large dabs. As the tide started to fill we moved to our second mark where we hooked fairly large cod , some good red gurnard ,ling , mackerel and pollock . Best fish of the day was an 8lb cod.
We finished around 1.30pm As our arms were aching but all in all a good days fishing and fresh cod and chips for dinner.
